About the bank

At BNK, we have been working on improving the banking experience for Enterprising Australians for more than 40 years.

Established in 1982, we are a digital-only, non-branch banking platform. We pride ourselves on creating a customer experience that is personal, intuitive, convenient and simple.

The details

We are part of a larger group – BNK Banking Corporation (ASX: BBC) – which operates award-winning brands, Goldfields Money and Better Choice Home Loans, and deliver our products through a wide network of third-party aggregators.

We are regulated by The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and abide by all legislative regulations and guidelines that help protect you, our customers.

As a bank, we offer the same level of protection as the big four banks, with deposits guaranteed by the Australian Government for up to $250,000 per customer (including business accounts). Your money is safe and secure with us! You can read more about it here.

Our history

Although today you see BNK Bank, we were formerly operating under the name “Goldfields Money”. Goldfields Money started life as a small, regional credit union in 1982 with visions of becoming a national, digital savvy alternative to traditional banking in Australia.

While the brand Goldfields Money exists currently, over the course of 2025 you will see it transform into BNK Bank. This change is driven by our desire to implement a digital strategy and make banking easier for our customers.

While the branding is set to change, with new and improved technology behind us, we want to assure each and every customer that the great service and integrity that Goldfields Money was founded on will not change.
