About Mr Venga
Mr Venga was appointed a Director on 26 November 2025.
Mr Venga has been involved in banking and financial services for over 37 years, including 25 years in C suite roles. He is a seasoned financial services lawyer with a deep understanding of credit-related regulation, risk management and compliance and consumer protection. Most recently, he held senior roles at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and ING Bank.
Before that, Mr Venga was the Chief Executive Officer and Ombudsman of the Credit and Investments Ombudsman (CIO) for 12 years. CIO was an external dispute resolution scheme approved by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission to resolve, in a non-adversarial setting, disputes between consumers and their financial firms in a fair, impartial, informal, expeditious and cost-effective manner (CIO was transitioned to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority in 2018.)
Earlier in his career, Mr Venga was the Executive Director of the Australian Association of Permanent Building Societies and Chairman of the Institute of Financial Services.
Mr Venga is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He holds Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Master of Laws degrees from the University of London. He is admitted as a Solicitor in New South Wales.
Mr Venga is Chair of the Audit and Risk and Compliance Committees and a member of the Remuneration Committee.
